Zinc Dust

TSIPL Zinc dust is manufactured through a specialized Dry Air-Atomization process where in high velocity dry air is used to blow molten metal in fine powder.

The starting metal used is High grade or Special High Grade Zinc metal ingots.

Transpek-Silox is the largest manufacturer of Zinc Dust in India. The key uses of this product is as an anti-corrosive agent in a wide range of protective coatings such as industrial, marine and yacht coatings. It also finds application as an intermediate for drug manufacturing processes in the pharmaceutical industry.

Physical Parameters:

  • Particle shapes are elongated spheres or flaky in nature which leads to decrease in Zinc loading of organic Zinc-rich paints in comparison to distilled Zinc dust.
  • Atomized Zinc dust also facilitates higher mechanical and adhesive properties of paint films without losing electrical contacts between the particles and the resultant cathodic protection of coated steel. 

Metal Content and Impurity Profile:

  • TSIPL Zinc contains higher metallic Zinc, which ensures higher corrosion protection when compared with distilled Zinc Dust.
  • Lead content is less than 50 ppm and Cadmium content is less than 10 ppm which is desirable for Zinc rich paints.
  • Other impurities like Cu and Fe are well within limits.

Moisture Content:

  • The moisture content in TSIPL Zinc is sufficient enough to avoid dust explosion, while keeping it free flowing at the same time.
  • Optimum level of Zinc dust helps to make it hazard free for transportation and storage.

Performance Tests:

Metal plates coated with zinc rich primers using TSIPL zinc dust passes successfully in tests conducted as per ASTM B 117 for 1000 hrs. Even on prolonged test for 3000 hrs, these metal plates did not show any corrosion.
